Back to school is just around the corner, yikes! If you have more than one kidlet starting school and you've seen the requested supply list give to parents, well your wallet might be hurting just like mine. The good news is that lots of great school supplies go on sale this time of year — the bad news is they aren't always the supplies your kids want or need.

Case in point – Composition Books. Katie is going into high school and composition books are “so elementary school”. But, they make a great place to do scratch work, doodle, take notes, and more! So we decided to decorate a composition book, at a cost of 50 cents each, with Duck Tape and Scotch Brand Duct Tape to create a really fun alternative to the Composition Book.

This can be done with any old notebook or old binder that still has good life left in it or with a notebook that isn't the color your kids wants — this year everything must be green, black, or purple with that girl. Oy vey.

Here's how I did it:

Supplies:

  • Crystal Sheets
  • Surfacez™ Multi-Surface Ink in Black and Pansy by Clearsnap
  • ColorBox® Crafter's Ink in Snow
  • Top Boss® Clear Embossing Powder by Clearsnap
  • Rollagraph® Jumbo Wheel – Mustaches by Clearsnap
  • Duck Brand® Tape
  • Scotch® Brand Duct Tape in Apple
  • Silver Sticker Letters
  • Heat Gun
  • Hot Glue
  • Composition Book

Thanks for stopping by!

It started with jewelry, beading, sewing, home decor, painting, basket weaving, pottery, and cross-stitch. Marry that to an entrepreneurial spirit & at 9 years old a girl is selling her wares at craft fairs as far as her parents and grandparents would drive her. These days, Jennifer enjoys crafts of all genres from sewing to scrapbooking to jewelry with a little dabbling in the mixed media world. Her style is approachable and she wants everyone who sees her work to feel that they too can embrace creativity and make their home and life beautiful.
