All of a sudden I started seeing pins on Pinterest of old highlights from my old blog featuring my Five Fridays posts. I knew it was time to bring them back! Five Fridays are just 5 things that have a common theme.

This Friday, it is:

5 ways to use BLING

Let's get started ….

1. Use bling as “eyes” on die cuts and paper piecings.

Did you know the eyes on the “hydrangea hippo” in our logo are Kaisercraft bling?!

2. Use bling to make semi-precious stones.

Apply acrylic paint to the tops of bling swirls or embellishments to help them look like turqoise or other semi-precious stones.

3. Use adhesive bling to over the holes in sequins or flowers.

If you love to combine cute flowers with sequins but the holes are distracting–cover them with bling! I was hard-pressed to find a sample of this but this layout here shows sequin flowers that COULD have had bling in the centers *wink wink*

4. Dress up other embellishments with bling.

I love to use bling on my Epiphany Crafts epoxies!! The dimension bling gives when used on top of other embellies is fab :)

5. Use bling to tie a design it all Together.

A little sprinkle of bling is great for tying a design together. The green pearl bling on this page ties the green in the photos in with the green on the epoxy buttons, giving the layout a cohesive look when green is actually a small part of the design.

Are you inspired to pull out some bling and make things sparkle? Now is the time to do it! Let me know what your crafting plans are this weekend in the comments below.

Happy Labor Day!

  1. I plan to make a bracelet for myself this weekend. It’s a very simple project but I keep putting it off to do other things. I also might get my scrapbooking space organized (does that count as crafting?) so I can sit down and do some pages soon. BTW, my favorite bling is Stickles. I have a million colors in my stash!

  2. Great ideas Jennifer! I am making a Halloween banner as part of a blog hop that donates them to a children’s hospital, a bday card for my dad, and some Halloween and Thanksgiving projects! Whew, lol!

  3. Great inspiration–especially on the layout. I’m going to scraplift this idea on my next layout.
