Welcome to the Handmade Holidays Blog Hop!!!

Calling all crafters! We’ve gathered designers from some of our favorite manufacturers to show you ways to create something from the heart this holiday season. This 3 day Hop includes over 60 stops with inspiration brimming from every corner. Explore all thoughtful and frugal handmade gifts you could make for the holidays, all in one place on this Hop!

Today I am sharing an affordable gifty idea using product from a couple of my fave companies: Clearsnap, Zutter, and Authentique Paper

I love using my papercrafting supplies to make practical gifts for family and friends. This Memo Board includes a small cork board, family photos, printable calendar, and a sticky note pad. And here's a secret–it costs under $5 to make! Especially since the Clipboard Wood Covers are on sale for just $1.75 for TWO. Yeah, amazing deal!!

The base of the memo board is Zutter's Clipboard Wood Covers. They're exactly what they sound like–covers made from clipboard wood — and they are perfect for home decor projects and items that will be handled alot. Clipboard wood is a compressed particle board material that stands up to years of use and handling that regular chipboard would not be able to handle.
I cut the Gathering paper by Authentique to 8×10 and covered the front of one of the Clipboard Wood Covers. One pack of covers can yield two Memo Boards. I painted the edges of the wood with orange paint and wiped the excess paint from the paper. I then sprayed the paper with Smooch Spritz in Ginger Ale to give it an antiqued glow.

I used the Zutter Bind-It-All to punch 14 binding holes across the 8″ side of the Memo Board. This will be the place where the calendar pages are bound and attached to the board.

I printed the calendar pages onto white 8.5×11 cardstock and trimmed it 1/4″ on each side and 1/2″ from the bottom to make it 8×10.5. I then punched 14 holes across the top of the calendar pages using the Bind-It-All.

I placed the pages face down on the Memo Board (right side of the board facing the right side of the calendar pages),threaded Silver 3/4″ O-Wires through the holes, and closed the O-Wire using the Bind-It-All.

I then punched a single hole in the top two corners of the board to create a hanger for the calendar.

I twisted the end of a heavy gauge wire into a spiral and threaded it through one of the holes. I then thread the other end into the other hole and twisted the wire into a spiral to secure it in place.

I ran ribbons across the middle of the board and tied them to the wire hanger. I then tied two lengths of twine into a bow on the back of two white buttons and added them to the ribbon accents. I tucked two diecuts behind the bows on the board, inking the edges with ColorBox Fluid Chalk Ink in Chestnut Roan.

I added two cardstock mats 3.25″ x 3.25″ for the sticky notes and cork board to set on. Then I added a photo mat for the gift recipient to place their own photo.

I cut two pieces of felt (2×2 and 3×3) into circles and then into spirals, rolling them into flowers starting from the outside of the spiral (tutorial here). I then sprayed the centers with Smooch Spritz in Ice Rink to add deeper shade of blue to the centers and a little bit of sparkle.

Easy peasy and just $5. They'll think you spent hours and lots of cash on this thoughtful yet easy gift.

  146. Very cute idea! Love the printable calendar. My only question is that the sheets are weekly–did you put 52 sheets with it? Seems like that would be a lot. But I do like the idea of having it be a weekly calendar–different from the typical monthly.
