Printables are such a big trend these days; I see them ALL the TIME on Pinterest! As a scrapbooker, these make me think of the early days of digital scrapbooking followed by the trend in “digital” stamps, which are basically images you print rather than stamp. Scrapbooking with printables is fun, easy, fast, and super affordable! Here's the beauty of printables:

  • Print as many as you want
  • Resize or recolor with a photo editing program
  • Save them to your computer for when you need them
  • Customize with text on your computer before printing
  • Affordable and often free

As a scrapbooker, I have far too often bought embellishments that I didn't use and later regretted buying. Sometimes the adhesive on the stickers dry out or the motif is too “young” for my kids now or whatever… the point is, I bought stuff I did not use. Scrapbooking with printables is the perfect answer to this dilemma! With printables, they only take up space on your hard drive and you only print them when you need them. These birthday printables from Jen Goode at 100Directions.com  are perfect for scrapbooking!

You can use these to decorate for the party but you can also resize them to scrapbook your memories of the party. It's a bonus that the embellishments on the page will now match the decor at the party! Ahhh, printables are the gift that keeps on giving!

Today I am sharing how to take this printable and turn it into a Print + Cut file to use with your Silhouette diecutting system. I am using the Silhouette Cameo and the newest version of the software,  Silhouette Studio Version 3.0.343. In Silhouette Studio, you can resize the image and cut it as big or as small as you like. Consider cutting a large version of the banner for example and then smaller versions of the same banner to use on the invitations. Or how about using a large version of the birthday flag banner on the cake and printing and cutting a smaller version to use in your scrapbook?

If the printable is a pdf (most of them are) you will need to convert it to a jpeg in order to import it into the Silhouette Studio software. I used Adobe Photoshop but if you don't have Photoshop, look for a free program online to convert the pdf to jpeg (research it first – I tired one and it put malware on my computer- DOH!)
