And now, for my fabulously inspiring organizational idea to share with you! With life being so busy all the time it is easy for me to forget what day it is let alone remember to clean the house. After reading loads of organization articles, blogs, magazines, and books, it seems the number one solution is to put things that need to be done on a schedule.

I hate housework and my family hates it more than I do. Breaking up the work into smaller pieces makes it so much easier to stomach (like taking a horse pill that has been broken up and put in a milk shake) so that's what I did. Why argue with the experts? I created stand up chore chart using the Zutter Display It All, bound with the Bind It All.

Zutter Supplies and Tools:
Bind It All Machine
1/2″ O-Wire (any color)
Display-It-All
Zutter 8×10 Clipboard Wood Covers
Zutter Pound-It-All
Zutter Rivet Setting Tools

Other Supplies:
Cardstock
Word Processing Program
A List of Household Chores
Lamination Machine
Pliers
Small Phillips Head Screwdriver
Drill or Heavy Duty Hole Punch
Saw or Heavy Duty Paper Cutter

For the first part of this project you'll need to use your computer. In a word processing program set up an 8.5×11 document with 0.5″ margins and in landscape layout. Set up two columns. Each column will represent one day of the week — you'll cut the paper in half to separate the columns and to make the pages of the chore chart.

Type the day of the week at the top of each column and the chores to be done that day underneath it. My rule of thumb was that if the chores were spilling into a second column, I needed to do less that day or split that chore up among several days. Add a column for monthly chores as well — things like changing the A/C air filter, setting the washing machine or oven to self clean, that kind of thing.

Print the chores onto heavy cardstock. Cut in half between the columns–the pages should now all be 8.5″ tall and 5.5″ wide. I trimmed mine down to 5″ wide but if you do that, the Display It All will stick out the sides of your pages. I don't mind it, but in case you do, make your pages at least 5.5″ wide.

I laminate the pages so they would last longer. You can do this by using a personal laminating machine or go to a office or teachers' supply store. I laminated my pages at Lakeshore learning — I think it cost maybe $3-5.

Once the pages are laminated, cut them apart. Set the Bind It All to the C Setting and punch binding holes along the tops of the pages on the 5.5″ side.

Cut a piece of chipboard to 8.5″ x 5.5″ as well. You can use a saw to cut a piece of Zutter Clipboard wood down to 8.5″ x 5.5″ if you want the chore chart to last longer and be sturdier. This will make up the back cover of the “book” and be used to secure the chore chart to the Display It All.

Mark the holes for the Display it All onto the Clipboard Wood.  Punch with with the Zutter Rivet Setting Tools and the Pound It All. Assemble the base of the Display It All according to the package directions.

Bind the chore chart. Lay the pages face up, in order, on the table. Then lay the back cover on top. Thread the O-Wires through each page from the back.  Once the wires are through every page and the back cover, close the O-Wires using the Bind It All.

Bolt the back cover of the chore chart to the Display-It-All. Flip the pages forward and you're done!

You can decorate the base of the Display-It-All with paint or rub-ons or leave it plain. Now get your chores done! LOL

  30. Thank you for the detailed description and the fresh, new way to use the Display-it-All. I’ve always had tunnel vision that it had to be used to display something ultra-fancy, but this is an excellent way to show something that is still pretty, but so useful, too!
