It all started when I was admiring a few vintage banners I saw online, caught a glimpse of one Candace Carpenter made, was inspired by all the cool stuff hanging from the ceiling of Sweetpeas & Snapshots when I visited there last summer… and next thing you know, I tried making a banner myself.

The first one I made, ever, was one commissioned by Scrapbook Royalty for their events and booths at Scrapbook Expo. In the Scrapbook Royalty way it had to be purple, shabby chic, and over-the-top fabulous. I had some chandelier crystals I had collected as well as some crystals from a shower curtain I was no longer using and those became little pendants hanging from each pennant. I made each “letter” a little different and had fun with each one, adding special “little somethings” I had in my stash of goodies.. Here we all are with Scrapbook Diva under the banner in San Diego:

Then I was doing a banner for a make n take for Scrapbook Royalty's March event, a few for National Scrapbook Day, as a make n take for a giant group of croppers in Orange, CA…

…and finally one for The Scrappin' Table's store display:

In October I'll be unveiling a deliciously spooky banner as a class too!! I'm still working on the sample but I'll just share that there are wide satin ribbons, spooky details, and lots of tulle & glitter!

I really do enjoy making these and have a blast coming up with new ways to make them shine in my own way. After many requests, I am finally offering custom banners handmade by me. You can purchase them through my etsy shop or directly from me. I am currently working on a banner for Baby Nanette to match a uniquely bohemian motif with pears, apples, and birds – whatever you need, the sky is the limit! To obtain a quote for a custom banner for your next party, home decor project, or just because, please contact me via email (on the left) or leave a comment here and I will email you back. Thanks for looking!
