Zutter Cover-Alls

I got a few of the brand new Zutter Cover-Alls from Nan when I saw her at Survivor Crop a couple weekends ago. They are sooo cool. Immediately I started thinking of fun projects I could do with them where I would want the binding covered.

Last Year I made Katie a little book with important phone numbers in it–I made the covers from gift cards, an idea I got from Nan, because they were really tough and durable. I didn't count on the binding wires getting beat up in her bag though. You know how kids are, throwing their back packs all over the place. Anyways, she needed a new “phone book” so I made it but this time I used the Cover-Alls to cover the binding. Also, when it needs updating, I can now slip the mini book out of the Cover-all and change out the info without having to discard the whole project.

Of course the first day Katie takes it to school, she “needs” it and calls me from the office. One of the office ladies saw it and now wants me to make a couple for her kids. And then my sister picked Katie up from school for me and of course Katie had to show the phone book to her too so now she wants one for my eldest nephew. Guess I am gonna be busy!! Who knew these would be such a hit!!??

A little about the cover — I painted it all pink (inside and out) and then I painted the outside cover with white glue and then sprinkled glitter all over. It's like a sugarcoated book!! I thought it was kind of fun and different from just a paper covering. Also I worried that a paper covering would get messed up in Katie's back pack where as with this, I can just add a little more paint and glitter for a “touch up” job.
