Ethel, It ain't snowed up here like this since '95!!

Seriously, I have not seen snow like this for almost 10 years, maybe since 2000, 2001? LOL. It is pretty gnarly. So I took the Geo (with Matt and Katie) to the mechanic to get the windshield wipers fixed. They did not work AT ALL. It has been snowing since 6am so I needed those wipers in a bad way. We were there for a few hours getting a McGuyver fix since no parts places were delivering today and the part, which was an entire assembly since you can't just buy ONE part anymore, ($200) plus labor ($500) made me want to walk home and buy a new car. Oh and the fact that no one has Geo parts anymore and we had to go with another brand. Sheesh.

Anyways, if I had been able to see how bad it was when I left, I would not have left for sure. There was an ambulance passing me when I left my street, sirens all day (I can hear them from my backyard), and an ambulance when I came back to my street. That is a sign of how bad it is. WOW!! So from about 8am when I first posted to now, 1:30pm, here is what happened:

This is actually underneath my patio, a good 5 feet in!!!

The wagon is buried!

This was the wagon at 8:19am:

More pics from around 130pm…My neighbors house and the fence:

My side yard:

Earlier the kids had cleared the snow off of this:

Compare the above to these pics from 8:21am:

I couldn't make it up the driveway so I had to leave the car in the street running with the hazards on while I dug a path to the garage. I almost didn't make it though that. But the car is “in” and it ain't moving if I can help it.

Oh, and Xaver is stuck down the hill. He's already explored all options:

  • 15 fwy – closed.
  • Yucca Valley – closed (chains only)
  • 14 Freeway and 5 through Lancaster (closed or chains only).
  • 138 or 18 – forget about it! That's through the mtns.
  • Highway 2 – been closed for months.
  • Fly into Vegas and drive 4 hours down.. why is that even an option?!

Well, time to make hot cocoa and start Stickling my Christmas cards. We can't even watch TV–too much snow on the dish so we have no signal. And Pink Pineapple, I had to call and say I wasn't coming. Awwww!!!! I seriously need a teleporter.

  1. Jennifer it is so covered at our house too. I LOVE it. I was so excited to be able to use snow scrapbook paper now. LOL. It hasn’t snowed like this in forever. My mom heard it was supposed to keep snowing like this until 8pm tonight. OMG can you imagine what it will look like then? I do love it though. We did the snowball fight, and built a snowman, and came in got in dry clothes and I made hot chocolate for all of us, and the kids are relaxing now.
Enjoy it while it lasts. Stay in and keep warm.

Jennifer, you and the kids and Xaver stay bundled up. Make sure he takes water and blankets to keep in the car just in case.

All I can think about is what GREAT pictures I could get to scrap, LOL.
