NOW Back to my regularly scheduled blogging…

Last night I was working in my scrap room and Xaver and Katie were working on her Mission project and Matthew had nothing to do. So of course he was causing lots of mayhem and destruction (that's why we call him “Mogar the Destroyer”). He loves noise and I just happened to have some empty Prima flower tubes on the tables in the front room and all the embellies from my banner class. So I let him put some buttons and rhinestone flowers into the tube and voila! Instant toy!! He totally loved it!

He looks a little crazy while he was shaking that tube:

So then when I wasn't looking he got an empty Prima paint can that used to have flowers in it and put some buttons and some rhinestones (cuz that is what he saw mommy do) in it to make his own shaker, with no lid. Yeah…that wasn't that great.

Through all of that choas, and with a little of Xaver's help, Katie finished her Mission:

They used paint and crackle medium from my scrap supplies, alot of PVA (um, yeah they grabbed that when I wasn't home), and some glue gun. I was there for technical advice (he he).

Since Katie chose the San Diego Mission, we were able to visit it and they took photos while I was at Pink Pineapple teaching a class in February. I wanted to use the Bind It All on the photo board they were making with the photos we took. I was thinking I could bind the pics to the board to make the photos flip up and then a description could go underneath but since it was already 10pm Xaver axed that idea. So if you're making (I mean “helping” your child make) a project on a Mission I'd love to see how you use the Bind It All on it.

All this happened last night after my Silhouette class at Scrapbook Boulevard–we had a total blast playing with the new welding and shadow features of the Silhouette's updated software to create a layout like this:

I used the sketch from PageMaps for their My Mind's Eye blog sketch challenge this month. All of the diecut elements were made on the Silhouette: The title, the big flower, that shadows on everything, the palm frond, and the bubble border. I also used KaiserCraft papers, a little scrap of 7 Gypsies and some Bo Bunny Double Dot paper, Bo Bunny brads, and two small Prima flowers.

Everyone chose their own papers, titles, and themes for their pages. I forgot my camera or I would have taken pics but they were all vastly different with titles like “Relay for Life”, “The Desert in Springtime”, “Road Trip”, and “Hawaiian Flowers”.

Thanks ladies for coming out to the class! One lady came just to compare the Cricut to the Silhouette–smart lady for comparing before she buys. There are so many people who tell me they bought x-y-z tool and it is still sitting in the box after two years. Talk about a waste of money! Sometimes tools seem so awesome when they are demoed in the store but then when you get home it is intimidating becuase you just don't know where to start. But once you get the feel of using it yourself….WOW!

This is one of the great aspects of both my Silhouette classes and Bind It All classes. You don't have to have the tool to take the classes–you can actually come try it out and use mine to see if you like it. The Silhouette does require computer skills though but if you use Word or any desktop publishing software pretty regularly, then you should be just fine.

Speaking of classes, here is a sneak peak of one of the layouts from “Twenty Pages In A Day” that I'll be teaching in May at Collective Journey and The Scrappin' Table:

Book Club is tonight so I am getting ready to “Get Creative with Type” at
The Scrappin' Table! We still have a few spots open in Book Club so if you want to join us, just sign up at the store! See you there!
