Welcome to the 4th Annual Handmade Holidays Blog Hop! A few years ago we were looking online for handmade gift ideas and thought it would be great if there was a resource dedicated JUST to handmade gift ideas. Enter the Handmade Holidays hop! We've gathered over 100 of our creative blogger friends in the craft industry as well as some of our fellow product manufacturers to bring you a plethora of inspiring gift ideas you can make now to give to your friends, family, and colleagues. Gift giving to adult friends is hard. A friendship bracelet just doesn't mean the same thing to a 42 year old as it does to a 12 year old! I like to get really practical gifts for people that they want or that meet some need. Thankfully, most of my friends and family don't NEED much so they tend to ask for lavish gifts or none at all.  (Really Dad, you want another iPad?!) But sometimes the thought really does count in a gift and that's when it is nice to give something handmade.

I created this somewhat psychedelic sign with a Beatles quote for a colorful, vibrant friend of mine who has fallen on hard times the last few years. This sign has a positive message that will brighten anyone's day, from a college dorm room or an office to your home or for a friend in need of a happy reminder.

You don't have to use a Beatles quote on this fabulous Walnut Hollow Bistro Sign board – maybe make the sign say “Bistro” and hang spoons from the hole or have it say “Vino” and hang grapes from the ends… It's totally up to you. But the masking technique with stickers – well, you can do that on any sign! I just love the contrast between thematte black “background” and the colorful letters. It's a total trick on the eyes!

The handmade heart ornament was created with ink and stencils for a custom pattern, just as I created the pattern on the wood sign itself. I stamped the letters onto the fabric once the heart was cut out and heat set the ink with an iron. The ColorBox Crafter's Ink that I used is permanent on fabric when heat set – I can't believe how vibrant it is and it actually stays vibrant for years. I made these tea towels last summer with the same ColorBox Crafter's Ink and they are still as vibrant today after 50 washings.
