Back to school is right around the corner here in Southern Californa – my kids return to school in about 3 weeks! I created this fun project for the teacher's desk – hope she likes it?! LOL The kids will get a kick out of it!

Get more details on how and why I made this project over on the Smoothfoam blog here: Monster Pencil Caddy.

I love the versatility of Smoothfoam's Hollow Balls and wanted to make something unique for my son's 2nd grade classroom this coming school year. If I were a 2nd grade teacher, I'd decorate my classroom with silly monsters. So with that in mind, I made a monster themed eraser and pencil caddy for the teacher's desk. This caddy can be adapted to many different animal types – from frogs to a fish to a dog or cat. I used the Smoothfoam Hollow Ball to form the base and then used paint, felt, and duct tape to decorate the ball as a monster.

It started with jewelry, beading, sewing, home decor, painting, basket weaving, pottery, and cross-stitch. Marry that to an entrepreneurial spirit & at 9 years old a girl is selling her wares at craft fairs as far as her parents and grandparents would drive her. These days, Jennifer enjoys crafts of all genres from sewing to scrapbooking to jewelry with a little dabbling in the mixed media world. Her style is approachable and she wants everyone who sees her work to feel that they too can embrace creativity and make their home and life beautiful.
