I finally have my own scraproom. Sure, had a scrap room before but it was really supposed to be Matthew's room. Plus we were renting and I could not do much decorating. It is messy but I've been getting a lot of requests for pictures so I figured I'd go ahead. Katie has her own scrap mess going on under my table. Eventually that side of the room will be her area.
I did not take before pics because I am trying to forget–the walls were hot pink and some were peach and the carpet was nasty with gum stuck in it. We put on several coats of Kilz primer and then painted it this nice blue. I was concerned about the color I painted the room because I did not want it to reflect onto my project and then when I got out into real light everything would be kind of off.
We put in laminate flooring that we got for a awesome deal–35 yr warranty flooring for 69 cents a square foot on clearance from Lumber Liquidators. We walked in at the right time and even got enough to do Matt's room too. Oh, and he has his own room now.
My scrap room is right when you walk into the house and there is a window in it where I can see who comes to the door which is awesome when I am scrapping.
There was no light, only wires hanging from the ceiling so Xaver put in a track light with adjustable lights so I can aim it where I want no matter where I move my desk. I plan to buy a different desk from Ikea, one I have been eying and that is smaller. The one I have is old and too big–I make too much of a mess on it. If you want it, just let me know.
In case I haven'tt said it before, this house was a repo so things weren't kept us as they might have been if the owner was just selling the house. But we put in new lights and did all the work to get my room working. It is not perfect but hey, it is mine and I can make as many changes as I want as time and money afford. Here are a few more pics:
Ribbon–got longer rods than I had before and now I can access it alot easier. This makes me smile–love it! And I still think there is not enough to choose from at times! LOL
Some paper lanterns I put up for fun. I want to get some bigger ones. Funny story about that metal thing on the wall on the left side of the pic. I saw it at Pier One and wanted to get a few of them and have them one above the other on the wall somehow. We only got one (I am going to get at least one more I think). Anyways, I was looking on Pink Paislee's blog for CHA sneak peeks last week or so and there was this same metal thing–in their Feb CHA booth as a display! I knew I had seen it before. It is a pretty cool thing.
Lilo & Stitch used to be on my computer desk but that is gone now and they are in my scraproom with some flowers I liked.

wow, it looks beautiful…You did a nice job. I love the colors you chose. The floor looks really nice too. Congrats Gloria
I love it! I couldn’t go as crazy with drawers since the main storage area needed to be converted into a closet. Hubby made 3 trips to Home depot, 1 to Lowe’s and I managed to go to Target yesterday. But hopefully by the end of the day a new closet will be built with space for me to organize. Oh! I better go take a before picture. Thanks for the inspiration.
Looks awesome Jennifer!! Lucky you!! you did a great job. ;)
Jennifer, what an AWESOME space! I love how everything is organized and it is place. Easy to find everything. I love it! Wish I had a space like this. -Susan B.
