So I wake up this AM and start checking on etsy, because hey, there is always a lot of good inspiration and I was heading out to “etsy central” to fill some orders.

On the Home Page I turned my head a little to one side as I saw a survey that looked like an ad and I wondered why etsy was suddenly interested in polling my dieting habits…..and then I see this:

I am all for people trying to make money but come on etsy?! This gorgeous chair is now marred by the image of belly fat I now have etched on my brain!!!!! And the ads are right smack in the middle of where people do their ordering, making it inevitable that at some point, you will click an ad you are really not interested in.

Booo etsy! There has to be a better way…..

What do you think about the new ads on etsy?

*Well, the ads were a symptom of a malware infection I had on my computer. Oh joy! Sorry for any panic caused…now, if you start seeing belly fat ads, check the computer for malware :)

  1. This makes me pretty sad for several reasons. First as a seller – we pay fees and follow rules to have a good selling environment that promotes handmade and this is the opposite. Second we have no control over what ads could be placed on our shops and that makes me very uneasy! It is also troublesome to have ad where you would purchase. Thanks for drawing attention to this! I’ll be writing etsy a letter. :) Cathie
