Welcome to the final day of the Fresh Vintage blog hop! I am so excited to be a part of this very talented group of designers bringing you inspiration each week.
To view the hop, you can click on the Fresh Vintage blinkie on the sidebar or immediately below. This will take you around to all of the designers on the hop.
I got back into sewing this weekend, really getting sparked creatively by the pillow class from Kim Lee at CKU San Diego. We did a ruffled pillow but it got me thinking, “I Can DO this!”. All of those super awesome pillows with flowers on them that people are selling for $50 or more…I can MAKE those!! I have to tell you, the die made this project go lickety split!
I diecut the petals from black felt, about 15 of each size. I saved the little scalloped centers that were die cut at the same time to use on another project. I cut a piece of 16″ x 24″ felt to double over to use as the pillow base and started laying my petals out, pinning them in place as I went. Then I used a sewing machine to tack down the ends of the petals, adding 3 rows of petals. I stitched the tips of 5 petals together and stitched that to the center of the flower. I then stitched around the sides of the pillow, added batting through a small opening, and closed it up. I sprayed the center of the flower with Clearsnap's Smooch Spritz in Silver Foil for some sparkle and added 5 Swarovski crystals to the center.
Oh My Crafts! is doing a giveaway of the Flower Layers #9 die on their blog. Yes, Christmas is coming early! LOL Head on over to Oh My Crafts! to enter. And don't forget to visit the other crafters on the Hop today by using the ring tool above or on the side bar of my blog.
