Charms with Swarovski® crystals from Cousin DIY, now in Michaels Stores, are perfect for making beautiful accessories for back to school, even if you don't know how to make jewelry. Today I am sharing how to make this fast DIY necklace with a tassel using these new charms with Swarovski® crystals that Cousin DIY sent to me.
Unlike most jewelry supplies in craft stores, these charms made with Swarovski® crystals have a lobster style clasp that allows you to easily clip the charm onto anything.

You can use them to make a charm bracelet or jewelry piece but they're equally as versatile for backpacks, pen charms, and more. This DIY necklace is super fast and requires almost no jewelry skills. You can use ANY charms with Swarovski® crystals to make one-of-a-kind instant jewelry with this technique. I'll be sharing a video on the Hydrangea Hippo YouTube channel soon, showing how all of these elements can be used together.
Here's what you'll need to make this project:
Supplies:
- Charms with Swarovski® crystals available at Michaels Crafts Stores
- Create Your Style Charms made with Swarovski® crystals – Silver Night Double Spike (MS39910015)
- Create Your Style Charms made with Swarovski® crystals -Paradise Shine Skull (MS39910024)
- Cousin Jewelry Basics Nylon Accents (34771079)
- 30″+ of chain
- Jump ring
- Jewelry Pliers
Drape the chain around your neck and cut to the length you'd like the necklace to be. We cut this piece of chain to opera length and tied a knot in it to shorten.
Attach the two ends of the chain together with a jump ring. You'll need pliers for this step.
Clip the jewelry tassel onto the skull charm. Then clip the skull charm onto the jump ring that joins the chains together.
Clip on the spike charm to finish the look.
My daughter already stole this necklace from my work table and said she is wearing it on the first day of school. Point for Mom!
You can use any combination of charms plus a length of chain and one jump ring to make endless versions of this necklace. Clip the charms on and off the same chain in different combinations to make custom jewelry for every outfit.
