Saturdays In So Cal by hydrangeahippo

Today I am sharing a local breakfast spot here in the High Desert that we stumbled upon one day when looking for places to eat. Spirit River Cafe is just barely over the hill inside of Apple Valley, CA, off Highway 18, about 10 minutes from the 15 freeway, so it's close enough for you to stop at on your way to or from Las Vegas. Every time we've eaten at the Cafe, it has been packed and with good reason: the food is good and relatively affordable for the amount served. It's easily one of the best breakfast spots here in the High Desert!

Xaver ordered the biscuits and gravy with eggs and home fries. Everything was super delicious – a little bit country cafe or greasy spoon but cleaner, if you know what I mean. I ordered the huevos rancheros. They're not exactly traditional but they are delicious and the eggs were cooked perfectly!

After these photos from our first time at Spirit River Cafe, we took the kids. I don't remember what I ordered but it was delicious. Since then, the kids have been bugging us to go back. For a family of four with 4 entrees and 4 drinks, our bill with tip was $42. We'll definitely be back!
