Everyone I know here in the High Desert has been telling me about this store called The Desert Cottage. I drive by it every day while taking the kids to school but I am so darned busy that I never stopped in. Until this week.
Argh, why did I wait so long?! I had checked out the store on Facebook and didn't see a reason to rush over there – I really don't like browsing in shops unless I have money to shop and since I have been trying to save money, well, there wasn't anything I was gonna buy. But I went in this week and was SOOOOOO surprised!
First of all, the pictures on Facebook don't do it justice. I took some photos with my phone and they just don't capture it all that well either. You really have to go in and see it for yourself. This is the kind of shop you'd travel to San Diego or the OC to shop. The kind of place that would fit right in at The Vintage Marketplace in Rainbow, CA or at The Sawdust Festival. CUTE, cute, cute shabby chic items, upcycled things, vintage decor, handmade signs and cards…. just all kinds of beautiful things for your home, for gifts, and more.
The prices were also amazing! I got a gorgeous wood sign (watch for the chalkboard wood slice sign in the video – that's what I got) for $18 and a pair of candle sconces for $10. TEN DOLLARS?! So without further ado, here is my little slideshow of the trip:
I hope you consider checking out The Desert Cottage if you up here in Hesperia, CA any time soon! Yeah, I'm talking to all of you who are roadtripping to Vegas this summer — this place it literally ON the way!
