Though we would love to travel, when it comes down to it, we just aren't big vacationers in my family. I don't know if we don't want to spend the money, or spend the time, or make a commitment but I do know, this year, all bets are off. This seems to be pretty common this summer, given the crazy rise in gas prices and airline tickets prices. No one will be vacationing in our family.
We were going to go to Yellowstone with my parents and the whole big family–got canceled.
Next weekend we were supposed to go to Vegas with the inlaws–looks like we're canceling that as well. Just to drive there would cost $200 in gas alone!
I bought all of this adorable Lil Davis travel paper and Making Memories travel paper but I'm not going on any trips anymore! LOL What to do?
I could scrap other trips we have gone on in years past or just save it for later. That just might be the plan. I took two weeks off from classes to put in a little family time…I think this summer we will be doing alot of picnics, walks to the park, and backyard BBQs. That new BBQ paper from Creative Imaginations might be just the ticket. Thank goodness for that! Leave it to a scrapper to find a paper to go along with any situation! LOL
Just because a trip is canceled, doesn’t mean you can’t scrapbook about it. It will just look like those blank areas in a high school yearbook that say, “No photo available.”

That is a great idea! LOL It would be a good thing to capture what it feels like right now, how the gas prices are impacting us and so on. Thanks for the idea!!
We are canceling a couple of our trips too due to gas prices. (sigh) I am determined just to have a lot of families over for dinner/playdates and swim times. Do you think my kids will notice??? lol.
I don’t think you’re the only ones cancelling trips, it’s sad how expensive it’s gotten to travel.
You’re taking some time off for family, what about staging a vacation in your own house? Have a beach day in the backyard with the sprinkler, slip-n-slide and baby pool. Play “where in the world” and write down where your kids say they want to go. Use the travel paper to scrap their thoughts!!!
