Art On A Mini

I created this mini a few months ago. It started as a blank Basically Bare album and I used paint, ink, embossing powder, and spray ink to cover the pages. Right now, I miss teaching in person classes. I have a few more scheduled for the Fall and will be announcing them soon. One of the things I like to make sure people know is that there is no wrong way in crafting. Sure, there are techniques and easier ways to do them. But people made up the techniques and we, as people can change them. This book was all about experimenting. Maybe I did something “wrong”, maybe I used the wrong techniques, maybe someone thinks it is ugly. That is not the point of the book. The point of the book was to play and experiment. What happens when I heat emboss with white embossing powder and then ink over it with Pigment Ink?

What happens if I put water in an almost empty bottle of white acrylic paint and squirt it onto the book?

Can these colors work together?

Oh darn I glued the felt flowers while they were still…but I love how the ink bled onto the leaves! How will I ever create that effect again?

Would someone buy it?

I really didn't care if someone bought it. Wait. Yes, I did care. Because I wanted to keep it. So I priced it high.

And it sold right away. My experiment turned into a scrapbook someone is going to cherish. That is how I want everyone to think of your crafting. Experiment, have fun, and create. Because it is mostly about the process of getting from a blank book to a finished piece than it is about the finished piece :)

Now, I am off to make another experiment!

Happy Creating.

  2. This is so beautiful Jennifer! I know what you mean about wanting to keep your creations, there’s so much stuff that I’ve put for sale and think “hopefully no one wants to buy it so I can keep it!” lol!!
