Welcome to the foil blog hop with the Clearsnap team!!! I have loved Designer Foils since I first started working with Clearsnap. They are super versatile and come in a variety of colors for all of your craft projects. I like to get mine on Amazon, which I've linked below for you :) Today, I am sharing how to create a brushed gold effect on paper with stencils, a paint brush, glue, and Clearsnap's Designer Foils. It's my version of “chic foil printing”!
You don't need a pricey laser printer and laminator to make gold foil images for your cards and scrapbook pages. I did some research to find out how to do foil printing on the cheap since I had seen some cool machines at the recent CHA Trade Show earlier this month. I did a post about a cool alternative I found to using expensive foiling machines here.
But before I did that, I decided to see if there was an affordable way to do the heat laminating method of foil printing without spending more than $100. I like the look of the laminate printing and I would love to create typography on my home printer that I could then turn into laminated prints. Since these would be for personal use and not for a profit-making business venture, I did not want to spend alot on this project. I mean, for $100 I could probably buy a good deal of gold foil prints from someone on etsy, like this one from CEYdesign:
I decided to take you along with me on a journey of discovery on the interwebs as I check out gold foil printing techniques, laser printers, and laminators, oh my!

So now that we got all of that “I want to print stuff on a laser printer and laminate it” out of our system, let's talk about a real, affordable, super easy foil transfer you can literally do right now or right after a trip to your local craft store. Because local craft stores probably have Clearsnap Designer Foils in stock and they definitely have paint brushes, stencils, and Tombow MONO Multi-Liquid Glue. And it won't cost you more than $20 to get all of this swag to make this happy safari tag (and 100 more projects like it):
Here's how to create this super rad brushed gold foil effect on this tag:
Here are a few more pics of the tag in detail so you can see how this effect really looks:

Also, check out this masculine card for your favorite guy that incorporates the hot foil trend but in a masculine way by using an urban geometric pattern. I share the full tutorial over on the Tombow blog: Easy Foil Transfers.
