Just because I don't think I am busy enough I go and cram more into my one weekend “off” this month. There is just so much fun stuff to do and check out. As I meet more new people, I find out about more new events and fun things to go see and do…well, it is just exponential!
Retreat Visits
The last two weekends I had the pleasure of traveling to two retreats to conduct raffle, teach make n takes, and pass out “Fairy Fly Bys” for Scrapbook Royalty! I need to go on one of these retreats to get some scrapping and realxing in for myself. Someday soon I hope!
On Friday November 7, 2008 I went to Crops2Remember, run by my friend and fellow Zutter Zister Nan Paturzo, in Lake Forest, CA. Katie helped me pass out “Fairy Fly-Bys” and teach a little mini book make n take. We also raffled off two raffle baskets to raise $298 for Friends of Scott, a nonprofit that helps to improve the lives of children suffering from Cancer. There were just under 20 ladies in attendance but they were so very generous!! Thank you so much for your support and also a big thanks to Nan and Naomi for having us come to their event. Here are some pics of me with the raffl winners:
On Friday November 14, 2008 Katie and I went to Desert Scrappers Retreats. For the last year and a half I have taught every Saturday at this retreast but I didn't want to miss the FiskFriendzy on Saturday in Long Beach so I came out to Desert Scrappers on Friday night instead. Katie once again passed out “Fairy Fly-Bys” and stencils for our Innovations Contest. I sold Scrapbook Royalty tote hooks and chatted with ladies about everything Scrapbook Royalty does. I also saw Nan there! LOL She is everywhere… There were 70 croppers in attendance and we raised $261 for Friends of Scott.
Scrapbook Royalty is helping Friends of Scott to collect toys for their annual prom they put on for the kids and their families. Our goal is to collect 150 toys. The money raised at these two retreats will be used to help purchase toys. There is still time to purchase toys!! Just go to GoodShop. Choose TOYSRUS from the drop down list and then choose “wish list”. Enter the name “Scott Delgadillo” and start shopping., The shipping address is listed in the registry as well.
Why do I ask that you go to GoodShop first? Well, everytime you shop an online retailer by going through GoodShop, that retailer donates a percentage to the charity of your choice, So be sure to always enter Scrapbook Royalty and to do your online shopping through GoodShop. Also, please be sure to use GoodSearch for all of your online search engine needs as we earn a penny for every search you do.
Wrapping Up Christmas
I finally signed up for Collective Journey's “Let's Wrap Up Christmas” event! They've been doing it for 19 years and I have heard great things about it . For $15 we got 4 make n take projects, yummy goodies to munch on (mmmm the meatballs were AWESOME!!), gift ideas galore, and 15% off everything in the store. I Picked up some stocking stuffers for my mom and Xaver and a cute little Christmas Countdown magnet for the fridge.
I was honored to have some of my projects selected as gift ideas they showed during all six sessions of the class over the weekend. I also got to talk about my upcoming classes there in December: “Good Eats” recipe book and “Be Jolly” Garland and Mini Book. And I met the wonderful owner of Cookbookin' line of cooking themed papers and embellishments.
Here are some of the great displays they had up in the store:
I recently joined the High Desert Street Team, a group on Etsy.com of artists in the High Desert area of Southern California (Hesperia, Barstow, Apple Valley, Phelan, Victorville, etc…). One of the ladies on there shared about an event at the Shrine Auditorium called “Felt Club“.
Sounded interesting and since Xaver is dabbling in creating his own little felt creatures for his Etsy shop we decided to check it out. Well, were we surprised to find out DJ Lance Rock and some of the other guests from Matt's favorite show, “Yo Gabba Gabba“, were there!! DJ Lance was DJing the event.
We even got a photo with one of the most silly guests I have ever seen on the show:
Miss Leslie Hall–wow. I just gotta laugh. You can find out more about her here.
We only stayed there for about an hour and couldn't go upstairs becuase there was no elevator and you all know I have knee issues. Hmmm….ADA, Hello?! But we got some great inspiration and photos anyways. And some fun little shirts for Matthew, a business card holder for me, and pin for Katie, and a gift for my friend Elena. Here are the pics:
Geez, Kate is so “tween” lately. Uggh!!!
These little felt sumo dudes were cute too:
Lots of needlefelting by NikNaks:
Isn't that mushroom pin cute? But it was $36 so I had to pass… paper is so much cheaper! LOL But I know it wouldn't last as long and it sure isn't fuzzy and cute…
Loved all the tees I saw there!
What a great inspiration filled weekend!!! And I even got some of my Christmas shopping done. Woohoo!
i want a sumo dude!!!
busy busy busy girl!!!!
You are sooooo busy! I get tired just reading your posts (lol JK!).
I can feel you busy-ness :) :) !!
Hi Jen,
Glad to hear you when to the Felt Club and had fun, I would love to hear more about it. My husband got an invite from his friend DJ Lance, but we didn’t have a chance to go. I was so sad about that! I’ve been making little felt creatures for a while now and love it.
I was really wanting to see all the great product!!!
Love to talk to you more about it.
Have a great week!
