Put a Bird On It!

Hello! Jennifer Priest here today with an easy to re-create altered mini birdhouse. I love this time of year because it is when the bog box craft stores usually clearance all of their Spring and early Summer home decor items, most of which are begging for a re-make!

I picked up this birdhouse shaped tea light holder at Michael's for a mere 79 cents last week and transformed into a gorgeous hanging altered mini bird house to hang over my bathtub.

Here's how I made it:

Supplies:

  • 1 Strand of Connie Crystal Beads
  • 1 Chandelier Style Pendant from a Connie Crystal Suncatcher
  • 1 6×12 piece of Close to My Heart map patterned paper
  • Assorted Ribbon and Lace by hydrangeahippo.etsy.com
  • Americana Acrylic Paint
  • Wire Cutters
  • Round Nose Pliers
  • Needlenose Pliers
  • Jump Rings
  • Head Pins
  • Eye Pins
  • Paper Trimmer by Fiskars
  • Glue Gun

It started with jewelry, beading, sewing, home decor, painting, basket weaving, pottery, and cross-stitch. Marry that to an entrepreneurial spirit & at 9 years old a girl is selling her wares at craft fairs as far as her parents and grandparents would drive her. These days, Jennifer enjoys crafts of all genres from sewing to scrapbooking to jewelry with a little dabbling in the mixed media world. Her style is approachable and she wants everyone who sees her work to feel that they too can embrace creativity and make their home and life beautiful.
