I'm so excited to be working with the amazing ribbon company Offray today as part of the Designer Crafts Connection! All weekend long the DCC members will be sharing projects created with Offray ribbon. Today I am sharing how to create a removable floral candle wrap with ribbon; OffrayRibbon!
Ribbon is Great for Romantic Decorating
I received an assortment of luscious 1.5″ decorating ribbon in Heathered Iris (#820825) and Heathered Champagne (#820801), 7/8″ Antique White (#418802) satin ribbon, and 1/4″ Iris (#568828) satin ribbon. The ribbons are soft, romantic colors, some with a heathered finish, perfect for creating shabby chic decor. The candle wraps I created are for a date night vignette I am creating for Valentine's Day. I'll be sharing elements of my “at home date night” over the next few days so you can re-create it in time for Valentine's Day.
How to Make Ribbon Flowers
To create these candle wraps, you'll need to create 2-3 ribbon flowers per candle using these tutorials I shared a couple of days ago:
After you create the flowers, it's time to make the wraps. I bought a set of brand new candles for this project because many of my current candles have already been burned. I don't plan on burning these candles with the wraps in place. If you do want the ambiance of real candlelight, consider using a flameless candle as the base for the wrap. This week, pillar candles and flameless candles are on sale at Hobby Lobby stores for 50% off, so I spent less than $20 for all 3 pillar candles.
Supply List:
- Offray 1.5″ Decorating Ribbon in Heathered Iris (#820825)
- Offray 1.5″ Decorating Ribbon in Heathered Champagne (#820801)
- Offray 7/8″ Satin Ribbon in Antique White (#418802)
- Offray 1/4″ Satin Ribbon in Iris (#568828)
- Tombow Fastener Tabs
- Hot Glue Gun
- 2-3 handmade roses and posies per candle
- Beads for Flower Centers
- 3 Pillar Candles
- Scissors
How to Make the Wraps
To create the candle wraps, wrap a piece of Offray 1.5″ Decorating Ribbon in Heathered Iris (#820825) around a pillar candle and cut to about 2″ longer than the circumference of the candle. Adhere a strip of the Offray 1/4″ Satin Ribbon in Iris (#568828) ao the top of the 1.5″ Decorating Ribbon using a dab of hot glue at each end.
Place a Tombow Fastener Tab on one end of the 1.5″ Ribbon Strip and wrap around the candle. Remove the protector backing on the Tombow Fastener Tab to reveal the adhesive. Press the tab onto the ribbon to close the loop around the candle. Tie a bow with another piece of Offray 1.5″ Decorating Ribbon in Heathered Iris (#820825). Use hot glue to adhere bow and flowers to the ribbon strip as desired.

These DIY candle wraps are great for home decor, weddings, parties, and even as a gift in addition to being used as a decoration for a romantic night in.
