She Turns Pages

I am back from CHA and ready to share some of the highlights from the show. For me personally, this was an amazing show! It feels like visiting family when I go to the show now and it is so much fun to see familiar faces, meet new friends, and of course, get crafty.

For this show, I applied (and was accepted) to create a dress for the Crafty Couture Challenge, open only to CHA Designer Members. 16 Designers were chosen to show their take on “craft Fusion”, mixing materials from at least two different areas of the craft world. I chose paper, ink, and fabric.

Well, My dress was a Judges' Pick!! That means it will be published in an upcoming issue of Cloth Paper Scissors Magazine, my first time being featured in that publication! What an honor this has been!

On top of that, it was very cool to have people come up to me during the show and tell me how they loved my dress, to have them ask about how I made it, and to hear all those positive affirmations. A lot of love and heart goes into a project this big, especially for us papercrafters who are used to working on such a small scale on cards and layouts.

I figured I'd share a little insight into what went into the creating of this dress so tomorrow, you will get to see the ONLY behind the scenes pics I am releasing to the public,. These are photos of the dress in various stages that I sent to sponsors and close friends during the process to let them know how it was going :)

Happy Crafting today and I will tell the rest of my story to you tomorrow :)

It started with jewelry, beading, sewing, home decor, painting, basket weaving, pottery, and cross-stitch. Marry that to an entrepreneurial spirit & at 9 years old a girl is selling her wares at craft fairs as far as her parents and grandparents would drive her. These days, Jennifer enjoys crafts of all genres from sewing to scrapbooking to jewelry with a little dabbling in the mixed media world. Her style is approachable and she wants everyone who sees her work to feel that they too can embrace creativity and make their home and life beautiful.
