Win a Free Ride!!

Win A Free Ride

I just checked Angie Seaman's blog and she is giving away a $75 gift certificate to what is essentially a “Build A Bear” for boys. Just go to her blog here and leave a comment on the post about RIDEMAKERZ for a chance to win. She'll announce the winner on Saturday. If you're in Southern California you'll be dissappointed to know that the closest one is in Glendale, AZ but you can order these online. I am crossing my fingers that I win because I told my dad about it and we are already going on a trip to AZ so we're going to adjust our route to take the kids to it.

First Annual Holiday Scrapbook Party

Speaking of Saturday, if you get my emails then you know about my First Annual Holiday Scrapbook Party! I am busy making preparations, readying the goodie bags, cutting the make n takes…Xaver went to Costco to get the pork and other yummies tonight. We have a full 12+ hours of cropping, shopping, and fun! I have a couple of vendors bringing some handmade goodies to sell that would make perfect stocking stuffers and gifts. I'll also be offering help early in the morning at 9am with any kit purchased from a class in the last 2 years. We're also collecting canned food for the local food bank here whose shelves were bare when I last checked in November.

If you didn't get the invite or just didn't have a chance to RSVP yet, I am sorry, but the evemt is full. I can only hold so many people in my house comfortably. If you want to make sure you get the info next time, please be sure to sign up for my email newsletter on the left hand column. Several people have suggested that we make this a regular get-together which I think is a wonderful idea! So I will start planning the Spring get-together as soon as the holidays are over. If you just want to come by to shop, please send me an email or post a comment here with your email address so that I can reply.

Scrapbook Royalty Par-tay!

Speaking of parties, this past Saturday Scrapbook Royalty threw a holiday party to celebrate our achievement of obtaining in our 501Cs nonprofit status. I know, 501c3 isn't catchy or elegant but that is the section of the tax code that gives nonprofits their nonprofit status. And now Scrapbook Royalty, after several LONG years, is officially a nonprofit corporation according to the Feds!

Those who have helped along the process were honored with special gifts. Elena invited people who have supported Scrapbook Royalty over the years and currently as well. It was great to see so many familiar and happy faces. Joanne (our lawyer), Stephanie Ackerman, Maryam and her husband and mother and Jett (he's so cute), Gloria, Melanie, Cathi, Julie and Liz, the Durbins, Jacque, Patty & her hubby, Sandy, Jesse, Birgitte, Crystal and Laura, Teri and Krystie of Pink Pineapple, almost all of the Pink Pineapple Design Team such as Carrie Elias and Amber, Donna Salazar and family, Lisa Klipfel of Heritage Makers… sorry if I forgot anyone–there were so many wonderful people there!! And of course everyone was dressed to the nines in their best “royal” attire!! I even got my makeup done!! LOL

Lisa Klipfel of Heritage Makers donated an album cataloging all of the Scrapbook Royalty events and fundraising efforts since its inception. Everyone signed the book — it was an awesome reminder of why we do what we do and why we all love it so much.

Here are some photos from the event:
Just a whole lot of nice nice people!! From the left, Jesse, Melanie, Elena, Teri, Gloria. Carrie, Cathi, and Me.

Elena and I:

Elena, Donna Salazar and me.

There was an assortment of purple (or course) candies at the front entrance and Donna grabbed some purple Now & Laters for everyone and had us eat them. Just so we could all show our tongues in this photo.

It was a blast and what an awesome achievement to celebrate. I really do enjoy all the work I do for SBR. It'd be nice if I got paid but honestly, this kind of work really comes from the heart and there is not really any amount of money that could buy that kind of work from someone. Elena has done a wonderful job of finding volunteers with big hearts like hers who give and give and believe in what she is doing and in what SBR is doing. I for one and am very honored to be a part of Scrapbook Royalty and to be Elena's friend. And Happy Birthday E!! Technically it was yesterday…

Now off to catch some zzz!!

It started with jewelry, beading, sewing, home decor, painting, basket weaving, pottery, and cross-stitch. Marry that to an entrepreneurial spirit & at 9 years old a girl is selling her wares at craft fairs as far as her parents and grandparents would drive her. These days, Jennifer enjoys crafts of all genres from sewing to scrapbooking to jewelry with a little dabbling in the mixed media world. Her style is approachable and she wants everyone who sees her work to feel that they too can embrace creativity and make their home and life beautiful.
